About Monuments, Their Cultural-Historical and Political Contexts

Sanja Horvatinčić will take part on 9 September 2026 in Nova Gorica in a conversation titled “About Monuments, Their Cultural-Historical and Political Contexts”, organised by ZRC SAZU at Knjigarna kavarna Maks in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The conversation also features Beti Žerovc and Gianmarco Pisa, and will be led by historian Petra Svoljšak.

Through a discussion of two thematically related books – Shaping Revolutionary Memory edited by Sanja Horvatinčić and Beti Žerovc, and Più eterno del bronzo by Gianmarco Pisa – the conversation asks how monuments shape our relationship to the past, how their meaning changes over time, and how they can become a space for understanding different memories, social experiences, and views on the future.
